Our office is conducting an economic impact analysis of a relatively new industry - cross-laminated timber (CLT) manufacturing. I believe the industry would probably be most similar to engineered wood / truss manufacturing, but don't know much about the details of the industry beyond that. Do you have any suggestions for developing a model on a new industry where very little is known about it?

Hello Monica,
Your best bet to ensure the industry you're selecting is correct would be to view the NAICS codes that are being included in that sector. Recall that each sector is comprised of numerous NAICS codes with similar spending patterns. You can find our NAICS-Sector Bridge HERE or on our Support Site.
It looks like you'd want to use sector 137 as you suggested since it includes the NAICS codes for laminated wood and trusses.
If you are able to find precise information on what these companies are spending their money on, there are ways to do more complex studies to endogenize this information using some of our customization features. Please let me know if this interests you and I can send some material on that as well.
