Modeling more general sectors when more specific sectors are not known

Is there any way to choose less specific sectors? What is the best way to model a project whose tenants have not been determined, but where we know general programming such as retail, commercial, and residential?

    Hello Julia,

Thank you for reaching out about this.

Likely the best way to model less-defined sectors would be to aggregate NAICS codes as sectors are based directly off of the NAICS. Lower level NAICS codes (i.e. 2 or 3 digit ones) are more general (i.e. "farming" instead of specific crops being listed) or you could even aggregate sectors in a customized manner. Customization would allow you to generate 1 sector that included retail, commercial sectors, etc.

However, aggregation is only available in IMPLAN Pro and not in IMPLAN Online. If you don't have access to IMPLAN Pro then we may be able to give you older data to try it out unless you were interested in purchasing recent data?

    Please just let us know.

    Thank you!
