Multi-regional between two states using zip codes

Doing an analysis in South Lake Tahoe, CA where the multi-regional study area are 3 counties in NV and one county in CA. From your article in developing a multi-regional model in a state, one uses state data and zip code data to develop a instate multi-regional model. For a multi-state multi-regional model, for example in South Lake Tahoe, do we need the state data for both California and Nevada together? Or for the Nevada zip codes do we use only the Nevada data and for the California zip codes only California data to do the modeling?

  • Hi there!

If you want to run an MRIO with 3 counties in NV and 1 county in CA, you only need the data for those 4 counties. You can build the county up from the zip code, but I would recommend just using the county models to start.
