    Hello Sam,

If you are trying to model geothermal power generation, Industry 44 would be the best choice. For the construction, I would recommend using Industry 56 - Construction of other new nonresidential structures. Perhaps you can do some research on the usual breakdown between construction and equipment costs in order to best estimate this in IMPLAN. If the equipment won't be manufactured in your Region, you can omit it completely from your analysis. The cost of land should not be analyzed. More information on some special considerations for the construction Industry can be found in the article Construction: Building the Analysis.

  • Thank you. So can i use sales to run the industry instead of employees? It is Solar power plant not geo thermal.

    Thank you once again.

  • Sam,

With an Industry Event, you can enter one or more of the following: Output (sales), Employee Compensation, Proprietor Income, or Employment.

Are you using the old 536 Industry Scheme? Industry 44 in the new 546 Scheme is Electric power generation - Geothermal. Industry 42 is Electric power generation - Solar.

  • yes it makes sense we are using the old 536 Industry Scheme.

Thank you got it. The industry does not exist in the region. So have to build or consider analysis-by-parts route.

  • Sam,

The article Adding an Industry by Customizing a Region should help you with that!
