Impact of fiber paper packaging construction

Hi,

I need to estimate impact of forest fiber paper packing industry construction that will employ scientists, engineer, managers, technician and administrative support. For selection of sector, do I select it as 'construction of new manufacturing structure (sector 51)' and add all number of employee (scientists, engineer...) and run a model  as a single event or select different sectors for each of the category.? If I have to select different sector what they might be. ?

Thank you!

    Hello!

Grouping the total number employees (regardless of profession) together and running through the same Event is certainly one way to set up your project, as a lot of those professions would be employed within Industry 51. For example, I ran 100,000 workers through Industry 51 at the US total level and received the following occupational results:

However, that may not get you results specific enough to what you are trying to model. I would recommend utilizing the NAICS to IMPLAN bridge that can be found in our article - Picking an Industry, to see if any of those NAICS codes would more accurately reflect the employment you want to estimate the impact of in an Industry outside of 51. In the case where there are more than one Industry you wish to use, it would be totally fine to break that employment out into separate Events/Industries.

    Hope this helps,
