I am setting up a model to look at impacts on recreational activities and I wish to have sectors for duck and pheasant hunting. What sector should I use for these. I see a sector for "Hunting Clubs, Recreation", but this isn't a club. I do see another sector for "Hunting, Commercial" (which I assume to be the correct sector). Which of these two (or another sector) should I be using? Thanks. Mike

  • There is no "Tourism" industry as such, so you will need to identify the goods and services purchased by the hunters (e.g., lodging, restaurants, gasoline, etc.). Tourism studies do not typically include equipment purchases (guns, tents, etc.) because these purchases were probably made some time ago and would probably have been made whether or not this particular trip occurred (i.e., if this hunting area did not exist, the hunters would still own guns and tents for other trips elsewhere). If you don't have the expenditure break-down, you could look for other outdoor recreation studies that have tourist expenditure patterns.
