Market Analysis With IMPLAN data
I am attempting to explore the health of the furniture industry in North Carolina using the IMPLAN data, Specifically implan codes 296 and 297.
If I was interested in measuring the excess demand and or supply of those sectors what would be the best way to calculate this?
I am currently comparing the total output of the two sectors with the total local commodity demanded (minus inventory) with significant excess demand.

If you go to Explore > Social Accounts > View By: Commodity Summary, you should see that Total Commodity Supply is greater than Total Gross Commodity Demand. Depending on your definition of "health", IMPLAN can give you a lot of information about the current characteristics of the industry that may be indicative of its health. It may be helpful to go to www.bls.gov and look at employment trends for the industry.0
