All Data Produced in 528 Industry Scheme
Data for IMPLAN’s 2023 United States products are now in a 528 industry scheme as a result of incorporation of the 2017 Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) Benchmark Input-Output Tables. Accordingly, the Occupation data for this year has been updated to match this scheme. More about incorporation of the Benchmark and why the industry scheme has changed can be found in our 2023 IMPLAN Data Release Notes.
Migration to 2022 NAICS Scheme in ACS PUMS Data:
This year is the first in which American Community Survey Public Use Microdata estimates are based on the 2022 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). Prior years utilized the 2017 NAICS scheme. The ACS PUMS data is used to backfill gaps in coverage of the Current Employment Statistics (CES) data.
Release of new National Employment Matrix Data
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ National Employment Matrix, which is used to supplement the OEWS data in cases of poor coverage, has been updated for the 2023 year. It was previously released semi-annually, but is now an annual release and should always be incorporated into IMPLAN’s occupational data releases going forward.
Updated O*Net Data
The O*NET database contains a rich set of variables that describe work and worker characteristics, including education and skill requirements, for a wide array of occupations. The 2023 IMPLAN Occupational Data Suite incorporates the latest version (29.0) of the O*Net data. Details about the latest O*Net data can be found on the O*Net website.
