INTRODUCTION

IMPLAN has a section of Pre-built Dashboards in the Data Library in order to assist users who are researching the specificities of regional economies. The Data Library Local Area section provides a standard set of Dashboards made up of relevant statistics for many of the topics that local area researchers examine. IMPLAN Data Library organizes sets of metrics to address specific topics of interest, so users can focus on gaining insights and telling the story with confidence. The information gathered in the Local Area dashboards encapsulates various data topics that aid the local area researcher in understanding a broader view of the local economy.

REGIONAL OVERVIEW

The Regional Overview Dashboard is tailored to researchers who are interested in studying Industries within a single locality. From the Dashboard, filter on Dollar Type, Data/Dollar Year, State, and County to get the following data tiles:

Top 10 Industries is a table chart that displays the top 10 IMPLAN 546 Industries in the local area by either Output, Employment, or Total Value Added.
Top Ten Industry Growth Rates is a table chart that displays the top 10 IMPLAN 546 Industries in the local region by either Output, Employment, or Total Value Added growth rates (this table includes 1 year, 3 year and 10 year growth rates).
Shift Share is a table chart that displays the 1 year growth effect for total employment, broken down by national growth effect, industry mix effect, and competitive share effect to measure actual employment growth.
Top 10 Occupation Growth Rates is a table chart that displays the top 10 3-digit Occupation Codes in the local region by either Wage and Salary Employment growth rates or Wage and Salary Income growth rates (this table includes 1 year, 3 year and 10 year growth rates.
Single Values (Reflecting Growth in all 546 Industries):
- Current Employment Growth - 1 year

REGIONAL INDUSTRY COMPARE

The Regional Industry Compare Dashboard is ideal for researchers who want to look at an Industry in two different regions, two different Industries in the same region, or maybe even two different Industries in two different study regions. From the Dashboard, filter on Dollar Type, Data/Dollar Year, State 1, County 1, State 2, County 2, and Industry 1 and Industry 2 to get the following data tiles for each Region/Industry:

Output and Total Value Added Growth Rates is a table chart that displays the total growth, 1 and 3 year growth rate for Output and Value Added.

REGIONAL OCCUPATION COMPARE

The Regional Occupation Compare Dashboard is very similar to the Regional Industry Compare Dashboard, with the main difference being occupations instead of Industries. Local area researchers may want to study an occupation in two different regions, two different occupations in the same region, or maybe even two different occupations in two different regions. From the Dashboard, filter on Dollar Type, Data/Dollar Year, State 1, County 1, State 2, County 2, Aggregation scheme, Occupational Level, and Occupation 1 and Occupation 2 to get the following data tiles for each Region/Occupation:

Wage and Salary Employment and Income Growth Rates is a table chart that displays the total growth, 1 and 3 year growth rate for Wage and Salary Employment and Wage and Salary Income.
Average Wage & Salary Income:
- Per Hour
- Per Year
Location Quotient is a table chart that displays the State and National Location Quotients for Output and Total Value Added.
Shift Share is a table chart that displays the 1 year growth effect for total employment, broken down by national growth effect, industry mix effect and competitive share effect to measure actual employment growth.

The Industry Growth and Trends Dashboard is ideal for researchers who want a quick snapshot of a single Industry within a single study region. From this Dashboard, filter on Dollar Type, Data/Dollar Year, State, County, Aggregation Scheme, and Industry to get the following data tiles:

10 year Growth is a column chart that displays the Industry specific Output, Labor Income, Total Value Added, and Total Employment columns.
Quarterly Growth is a column chart that displays the Industry specific Output, Labor Income, Total Value Added, and Employment columns.
Top 10 Occupations is a table chart that displays the top 10 5-digit Occupation Codes in the local region by either Average Wage and Salary Income, Average Wage and Salary Income per hour, or Wage and Salary Employment.
National Location Quotient is a column chart that displays the National Location Quotients for Employment, Labor Income, Output, and Total Value Added.
Shift Share is a table chart that displays the 1 year growth effect for Total Employment, broken down by national growth effect, Industry mix effect, and competitive share effect to measure Actual Employment growth.

The Occupational Growth and Trends Dashboard is great for a user who needs quick data on a single Occupation, Occupations by Industry, or even Industries by Occupation within a local region. From this Dashboard, filter on Dollar Type, Data/Dollar Year, Occupation level, State, County, Aggregation Scheme, Industry and Occupation to get the following data tiles:

10 year Growth is a column chart that displays the Industry/Occupation specific Wage and Salary Employment as well as Wage and Salary Income columns.
10 year Growth is a column chart that displays the Industry/Occupation specific Average Compensation per Hour and Average hours per Year columns.
Quarterly Growth is a column chart that displays the Industry/Occupation specific Wage and Salary Employment, Average Wage and Salary Income, and Average Wage and Salary Income per Hour columns.
Top 10 Industries by Occupation is a table chart that displays the Top 10 Industries for an Occupation in a local economy by either Wage and Salary Income, Average Wage and Salary Income, or Average Wage and Salary Income per Hour.
