25.7 Release
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.7 released on December 17, 2025.
SITEWIDE
- Specification codes have been improved so the instances of industry and commodity code and description mismatches are reduced with aggregated schemes.
REGIONS
- US Congressional Sessions (118th and 119th) are now individual options so users can easily view, select, and add their choice to their projects. This can be found in the List View on the Regions page
IMPACTS
- Users can sort their list of events by the order it was added, title, event type, specification, or the value. Events can also be ordered in a descending or ascending direction. This feature can be used on the Impacts page in the event headers.
DATA LIBRARY
- Filters for the Local Area and Footprint tabs in Data Library have been redesigned. Additionally, more support and instructional material have been added to aid usage.
EVENT TEMPLATE
- Updated the event template for Canada to accommodate Economic Regions.
PROJECTS
- Added the Project Comparison Tool which allows users to compare the overall results of 2 projects, side by side. This comparison tool is currently limited to projects using US data. Incomplete projects (i.e. projects that do not have a Results page) and projects utilizing the Forward Linkage guides cannot be compared at this time.

25.6 Release
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.6 released on October 29, 2025.
SITEWIDE

Canadian 2021 Economic Regions are available in the “235 Industries (Canada)” Industry Set for viewing data and running impacts (including MRIO). This adds sub-provincial level data for users to explore economic impacts at a more local level with Canadian data.
- Added ability to toggle between Data Year (the traditional IMPLAN setup) or Model Year when using data years within IMPLAN. This feature can be toggled on in the User Preferences section of the Profile page. Please note that if a user chooses to use the Model Year preference, time series data will not be displayed.
REGIONS
- Canadian 2021 Economic Regions are available via the Region List and the Map. Users can right-click individual provinces to show the Economic Regions.
IMPACTS
- Improved MRIO analyses so nationwide impacts can be run at the congressional district level. This allows for the reporting of impacts at a congressional district level that includes effects from the remainder of the country.
RESULTS
- Updated analyses using Industry Contribution Analysis to produce consistent expected results. Resolved rare instances of incorrectly negative results.
ENVIRONMENTAL
- Added ability to access Land Use Damages and Greenhouse Gas Damages data in Region Details and the Results via the IMPACT API.
25.5 Release
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.5 released on September 3, 2025.
GUIDES
- Expanded the Guide Library to include new interactive Forward Linkage Guides:
- The Downstream Industry Contribution Guide examines how a given Industry supports other Industries in its downstream value chain within a Region.
- The Price Change (Cost-Push) Guide examines how a change in the price of a given Commodity affects the cost of production to Industries that demand it within a Region.
- Added the ability for users of the Enterprise Impacts Guide to upload their own Excel file when the structure closely resembles IMPLAN’s Event formatting.
- Added the ability for users of the Tourism Impacts Guide to analyze the economic effects of residential spending.
REGIONS
- Added Forward Linkage Multipliers and Forward Linkage Power Series Multipliers for Industries in a Region. These will allow users to analyze the down-stream effects to Industries that demand the production of another Industry.
PROJECTS
- Implemented a download functionality for the Simplified Overview Results, which allows users to download the summary report in a PowerPoint format.
DATA LIBRARY
- Improved the functionality of Location Quotients (LQ) in the Occupation Area Compare Dashboard. Note that there may be some overestimation of these LQs for Occupations with Industries that do not exist in the selected Region but do exist in the parent Region.
- Hovering on the column header will now read: “Location Quotients (LQ) are calculated based on the occupations and industries in the selected region and more industries may exist in the region's parent, leading to LQs being overestimated for occupations where the selected region has fewer industries.”
- Added the Time Series CEW data to the Employment & Wages by NAICS (Imputed CEW Data) in Data Library. Users will now have to specify a required NAICS Set filter when using this data, with the new data corresponding to the 2022 NAICS to IMPLAN 528 set.
25.4 Release
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.4 released on July 16, 2025.
SITEWIDE
- Improved in-app notification bell to include the number of new notifications.
REGIONS
- Added Power Series Multipliers for Industries in a Region. These will allow users to analyze the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds of Indirect Multipliers by Industry in either a Summary or Detailed format.
IMPACTS
- Added the ability for users to input Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Employment or Wage and Salary Income as Event Values in Industry Impact Analysis (IIA) Events. These Event Values will be automatically converted to Wage & Salary Employment and Employee Compensation respectively.
RESULTS
- Enhanced the experience for mobile users by allowing the embeddable map view to scale down appropriately.
- Added two new Employment Results Dashboards:
- Wage and Salary Employment shows Wage and Salary and Full-Time Equivalent Employment by Industry and type of effect.
- Proprietor shows Proprietor Employment by Industry and type of effect
ENVIRONMENTAL
- Added Scope 1, 2, and 3 Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) tables to the Damages from Greenhouse Gasses Environmental Results Dashboard. Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG Emissions recategorizes the current Direct, Indirect, and Induced effects of GHG damages to match standard methodology for environmental impact reporting.
25.3 RELEASE
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.3 released on May 28, 2025.
REGIONS
- Added an automated option to build “rest of” Combined Regions for use in Multi-Regional Input-Output (MRIO) Projects. This option can be used to build rest of state or rest of country Combined Regions when utilizing county or state Regions.
IMPACTS
- Added an option for Industry Impact Analysis (Detailed) Events to specify the Commuting Rate for Employee Compensation earned by Wage and Salary Employees as 100%. Users can still utilize the default Regional Commuting Rate by leaving this option specified as SAM.
- Implemented improvements to Multi-Regional Input-Output (MRIO) Projects to more accurately account for trade and commuting across Regions. These improvements will affect MRIO Projects that utilize IIA or Labor Income Events, as well as Projects using non-default Aggregation Schemes.
- Improved the logic of Industry Impact Analysis (IIA) Events by deflating Employee Compensation and Proprietor Income Event Values prior to calculating impacts.
- Improved the logic of Industry Impact Analysis (IIA) Events in government payroll Industries to avoid unexpected negative Results and negative value warning messages.
PROJECTS
- Added an embeddable map to the Results page of all IMPLAN Projects to expand the reporting experience for IMPLAN users.
- Added a summary report for Project Results that utilize Canada and International based Regions. This summary report will provide high level insights for the economic indicator and tax Results from the Project as a whole. This report can be found under the Summary menu as the Simplified Overview Dashboard.
- Added a notification message for when a user opens a Project that was run prior to a recent Product Update. This message will suggest that users make a copy of the Project prior to making further modifications. This will allow users to maintain their historical Results that may change based on Product improvements.
DATA LIBRARY
- Improved Data Library Dashboards by redesigning the filters and adding an info button that provides more details on the data asset being used.
25.2 RELEASE
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.2 released on April 2, 2025.
RESULTS
- Added a summary report for Project Results that utilize U.S. based Regions. This summary report will provide high level insights for the economic indicator and tax Results from the Project as a whole. This report can be found under the Summary menu as the Simplified Overview Dashboard.
GUIDES
- Added the ability for users to quantify the economic effects of new business operations within the Mixed Use Development Guide.
- Added an option to upload Events using an excel template for the Enterprise Guide.
- Updated all Guides in the Guides Library to default to the 528 Industry Set and 2023 Data Year.
AGGREGATION SCHEMES
- Improved the Industry Aggregation Advanced Tool by adding the ability to rename, delete, and duplicate any Custom Industry Aggregation Schemes within a users account. Additionally, any existing Custom Industry Aggregation Scheme that utilizes the 546 Industry set can be updated to an equivalent aggregation scheme utilizing the 528 Industry Set.
EVENT TEMPLATE
- Improved the Event Template for the U.S. 528 Industry Set. This template now includes an optional NAICS lookup column for all Industry Event types. This column allows users to enter a 6-Digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code instead of an IMPLAN Industry code. This feature will automatically return the equivalent IMPLAN Industry within the Event Template to be used in the analysis.
PROJECTS
- Added a tooltip to the Project page. The tooltip will display the full nested Project location when hovering over a Project found using the search bar.
DATA LIBRARY
- Fixed a bug in Data Library Explores that was delaying applied Region filters to load.
25.1 RELEASE
Here are the official IMPLAN production release notes for version 25.1 released on January 29, 2025.
SITEWIDE
- Implemented an improved profile page for users to view and manage their own information, preferences, notifications, and password resets all in one screen.
REGIONS

Added two new tables to Region Details > Study Area > Area Demographics highlighting the breakdown of commuting flows of income into and out of the U.S. based Regions.
- Regional Employee Wage & Salary Income by Place of Residence: Segments the total Wage & Salary Income earned in a Region into “Residents Working Locally” and “In-commuters”
- Resident Wage & Salary Income by Place of Work: Segments the total Wage & Salary Income earned by residents in a Region into “Residents Working Locally” and “Out-commuters”
IMPACTS
- Improved the accuracy of Multi-Regional Input-Output Projects that utilize Industry Impact Analysis (IIA) Events by accounting for all Event Inputs when calculating interregional trade.
- Improved the accuracy of trade in Multi-Regional Input-Output Projects whenever Local Purchase Percentage values are less than 100% within Industry Impact Analysis (IIA), Commodity Output, or Spending Pattern Events.
- Added a new error message warning users whenever multiple Groups have the same name on the Impacts page. IMPLAN requires that all Group Names are unique within a single Project.
- Added more detailed Tax Results to Projects that utilize the 2021 Canada Provincial data including a split across government levels and relabeling of tax categories. Read more in 2021 Canada Provincial Data Release Notes.

Relabeled factors and Institutions for the Canada Provincial Product. Those relabels are as follows:
- Proprietor Income is now Gross Mixed Income
- Other Property Income is now Gross Operating Surplus
- Government Consumption Expenditures is now General Governments Consumption Expenditures
- Government Investment is now General Governments Investment
- All Non-Profit Industries (217-223) will include “NP” in the Industry description
- All Government Sector Industries (224-234) will include “GS” in the Industry description

GUIDES
- Added an embeddable map to the Results page of the Enterprise Guide to expand the reporting experience for Guide users.
- Added the ability for users to utilize Event Tags within the Enterprise Guide. Users have the ability to filter by Event Tag to modify the Event Results that are displayed on the Enterprise Guide map.
SPENDING PATTERNS & MARGINS
- Improved Commodity Margins in the Canada Provincial Product by adding the Taxes on Products and Imports Net of Subsidies (TOPS) (Commodity 3235). Note that this will only apply to the 2021 Commodity Margins, which will be the default for all Canada Data Years unless manually changed by the user.
PROJECTS
- Added an Event Tag column to the files that can be downloaded from the Download tab of the Results page.
- Improved the Project page by adding the ability to search and filter Projects and to bulk move Projects into folders.
